Investing.com – Malaysia stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Technology, Construction and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Kuala Lumpur, the FTSE Malaysia KLCI added 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the FTSE Malaysia KLCI were KLCC Property Holdings Bhd (KL:KLCC), which rose 0.14% or 0.01 points to trade at 7.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Bumiputra - Commerce Holdings Bhd (KL:CIMB) added 2.83% or 0.14 points to end at 5.08 and Petronas Dagangan Bhd (KL:PETR) was down 0.10% or 0.02 points to 20.30 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA), which fell 1.01% or 0.06 points to trade at 5.91 at the close. DiGi.Com Bhd (KL:DSOM) added 0.20% or 0.01 points to end at 5.06 and IOI Corporation Bhd (KL:IOIB) was down 0.25% or 0.01 points to 4.02.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange by 460 to 136 and 28 ended unchanged.
Shares in Axiata Group Bhd (KL:AXIA) fell to 52-week lows; falling 1.01% or 0.06 to 5.91.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.31% or 0.14 to $43.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.88% or 0.44 to hit $50.62 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.62% or 7.00 to trade at $1116.60 a troy ounce.
SGD/MYR was up 1.36% to 2.8772, while USD/MYR rose 1.23% to 4.0195.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.36% at 96.63.
