Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Oil & Gas Producers and Mining sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.33%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Weir Group PLC (L:WEIR), which rose 5.77% or 62.00 points to trade at 1137.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Meggitt PLC (L:MGGT) added 4.48% or 16.00 points to end at 373.10 and BP PLC (L:BP) was up 3.86% or 15.0000 points to 403.2500 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Standard Chartered PLC (L:STAN), which fell 6.67% or 47.600 points to trade at 666.000 at the close. Taylor Wimpey PLC (L:TW) declined 5.30% or 10.50 points to end at 187.70 and Barratt Developments PLC (L:BDEV) was down 3.85% or 23.500 points to 586.500.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1117 to 965 and 472 ended unchanged.
Gold for December delivery was down 1.58% or 18.00 to $1117.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 2.71% or 1.25 to hit $47.39 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.31% or 1.12 to trade at $49.91 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.06% to 1.5408, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.7106.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.42% at 97.41.
