Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms & IT, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Building & Construction sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 2.39%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 10.19% or 0.383 points to trade at 4.143 at the close. Meanwhile, Acerinox (MC:ACX) added 8.88% or 0.807 points to end at 9.896 and Repsol (MC:REP) was up 6.65% or 0.670 points to 10.740 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Caixabank SA (MC:CABK), which fell 0.36% or 0.012 points to trade at 3.306 at the close. Inditex (MC:ITX) added 0.82% or 0.260 points to end at 31.900 and Bankia (MC:BKIA) was up 1.20% or 0.013 points to 1.098.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 187 to 32 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) fell to 52-week lows; down 0.36% or 0.012 to 3.306.
Gold for February delivery was down 0.50% or 5.40 to $1068.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 4.01% or 1.45 to hit $37.59 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 2.95% or 1.06 to trade at $37.17 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.76% to 1.0874, while EUR/GBP fell 1.01% to 0.7314.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.43% at 98.63.
