Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Insurance, Retail and Banking sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 1.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were A.S. Company (AT:ASCr), which rose 11.21% or 0.036 points to trade at 0.357 at the close. Euroconsultants SA (AT:ERCr) added 7.53% or 0.1100 points to end at 1.5700 and Quest Holdings (AT:IQTr) was up 6.52% or 0.27 points to 4.41 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Iaso (AT:IASr), which lost 6.85% or 0.035 points to trade at 0.476 in late trade. Intralot (AT:INLr) declined 2.94% or 0.03 points to end at 0.99 and Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) shed 2.75% or 0.03 points to 1.06.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 24 and 8 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.64% or 8.25 to $1283.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.53% or 0.23 to hit $43.88 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $44.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.05% to 1.1492, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.7941.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.27% at 93.27.
