Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Oil & Gas, Technology and Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 gained 0.47%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were Saipem (MI:SPMI), which rose 3.44% or 0.0134 points to trade at 0.4031 at the close. Tenaris (MI:TENR) added 2.79% or 0.40 points to end at 14.73 and Luxottica Group (MI:LUX) was up 2.31% or 1.12 points to 49.64 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Azimut Holding (MI:AZMT), which lost 6.65% or 1.05 points to trade at 14.75 in late trade. Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena SpA (MI:BMPS) declined 4.65% or 0.0110 points to end at 0.2254 and Banca Popolare Milano (MI:PMII) shed 3.87% or 0.0118 points to 0.2934.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 277 to 127 and 21 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.14% or 1.92 to $48.28 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 4.37% or 2.05 to hit $48.91 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.38% or 4.65 to trade at $1213.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.16% to 1.0606, while EUR/GBP fell 1.15% to 0.8493.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.30% at 101.11.
