Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Mobile Telecommunications and Banking sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.48%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Royal Bank of Scotland Group PLC (LON:RBS), which rose 4.74% or 12.00 points to trade at 265.40 at the close. Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO) added 2.38% or 19.50 points to end at 838.00 and WM Morrison Supermarkets PLC (LON:MRW) was up 2.35% or 5.50 points to 239.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Barclays PLC (LON:BARC), which lost 5.22% or 11.70 points to trade at 212.25 in late trade. Mediclinic International PLC (LON:MDCM) declined 4.42% or 38.00 points to end at 821.00 and Royal Mail PLC (LON:RMG) shed 3.92% or 16.40 points to 402.50.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1032 to 871 and 487 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.16% or 1.97 to $1267.87 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.12% or 0.06 to hit $49.03 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.06% or 0.03 to trade at $51.85 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.32% to 1.2944, while EUR/GBP fell 0.13% to 0.8415.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.09% at 98.93.
