Aug 5 (The Sports Xchange) - The Tampa Bay Rays claimed
outfielder Daniel Nava off waivers from the Boston Red Sox,
according to reports Wednesday.
Nava was designated for assignment last week by the Red Sox.
Nava played in just 29 games for the Red Sox this season,
hitting .152 with seven RBIs. He hit .303 in 134 games during
Boston's World Series-winning season in 2013. For his career,
Nava is hitting .267, with a .357 on-base percentage, 23 home
runs and 169 RBIs in 424 games.
The 32-year-old Nava can play first base, left field and
right field.

The Chicago White Sox placed right-handed reliever Daniel
Webb on the 15-day disabled list with a back strain and
activated right-hander Nate Jones.
Jones, who was on an injury rehabilitation assignment at
Triple-A Charlotte, was reinstated from the 60-day disabled
list.
Jones, 29, began the season on the disabled list while
recovering from Tommy John surgery on his right elbow in a
procedure performed on July 29, 2014. He appeared in three games
with Class A Winston-Salem and six with Charlotte on a rehab
assignment, compiling a 1.93 ERA in 9 1/3 innings.
Webb, 25, has gone 1-0 and has a 2.49 ERA in 21 2/3 innings
with 15 strikeouts in 17 relief appearances this season.

The Chicago Cubs placed right-hander Rafael Soriano, who has
an inflamed shoulder, on the 15-day disabled list.
To replace him on the roster, the Cubs re-signed left-hander
Clayton Richard, who had been designated for assignment Monday.

A week after Garrett Jones was designated for assignment and
became a free agent, he returned to the New York Yankees.
The Yankees re-signed the first baseman/outfielder after
recently acquired Dustin Ackley suffered a herniated disk in his
back and was placed on the disabled list. Ackley is expected to
be out until September.

The Cleveland Indians claimed right-hander Deolis Guerra off
waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates and designated left-hander
Michael Roth for assignment.
The 26-year-old Guerra was 2-0 with a 6.48 ERA in 10 relief
outings for the Pirates this year as a rookie before he was
designated for assignment on July 31 after Pittsburgh acquired
right-hander Joakim Soria.

The New York Yankees announced plans for improved security
and faster entry into Yankee Stadium.
The Yankees said there will be security enhancements and
expedited fan access at entry points at the stadium through a
partnership with CLEAR -- the secure biometric identity platform
sanctioned by Major League Baseball.
