Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Financial Services and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which rose 6.55% or 65.0 points to trade at 1058.0 at the close. Meanwhile, SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) added 5.61% or 70.0 points to end at 1318.0 and Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801) was up 3.16% or 8.0 points to 261.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707), which fell 3.96% or 12.0 points to trade at 291.0 at the close. Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) declined 3.65% or 12.0 points to end at 317.0 and Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715) was down 3.47% or 9.0 points to 250.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1049 to 824.
Shares in Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801) rose to 52-week highs; rising 3.16% or 8.0 to 261.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.78% to 22.78.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.85% or 0.34 to $41.02 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.58% or 0.26 to hit $43.98 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.15% or 1.60 to trade at $1070.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.17% to 123.24, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 131.24.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.02% at 99.70.
