Investing.com – Sri Lanka equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Information Technology, Telecoms and Power & Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Colombo, the CSE All-Share added 0.09%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CSE All-Share were Amana Takaful PLC (CM:ATL), which rose 16.67% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.700 at the close. Equity Two PLC (CM:ETWO) added 16.00% or 8.00 points to end at 58.00 and Arpico Insurance Ltd (CM:ARIC) was up 13.16% or 1.50 points to 12.90 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Adam Investments Ltd (CM:ADAM), which lost 12.50% or 0.100 points to trade at 0.700 in late trade. On’ally Holdings PLC (CM:ONAL) declined 11.62% or 6.60 points to end at 50.20 and Blue Diamonds Jewellery Worldwide PLC (CM:BLUE) shed 10.00% or 0.10 points to 0.90.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 79 to 73 and 69 ended unchanged on the Colombo Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.78% or 0.42 to $53.41 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.73% or 0.41 to hit $55.95 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.44% or 5.45 to trade at $1244.55 a troy ounce.
GBP/LKR was down 0.61% to 185.460, while USD/LKR fell 0.20% to 151.190.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 101.92.
