Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Financials, Basic Materials and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 0.80%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Galapagos NV (AS:GLPG), which rose 2.24% or 1.670 points to trade at 76.320 at the close. ASML Holding (AS:ASML) added 1.28% or 1.50 points to end at 119.10 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) was up 1.01% or 0.170 points to 16.990 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 17.09% or 10.80 points to trade at 52.40 in late trade. ING Groep NV (AS:INGA) declined 4.03% or 0.580 points to end at 13.820 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) shed 2.65% or 0.139 points to 5.100.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 92 to 32 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 3.86% to 12.84.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was down 0.48% or 0.23 to $48.01 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.65% or 0.33 to hit $50.63 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.25% or 3.15 to trade at $1249.65 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.0810, while EUR/GBP fell 0.02% to 0.8661.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 99.42.
