Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Food & Beverages and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.29% to hit a new all time high, while the MDAX index gained 0.43%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.71%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 3.91% or 0.610 points to trade at 16.205 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 2.73% or 0.520 points to end at 19.560 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 2.67% or 0.253 points to 9.712 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which lost 5.07% or 1.990 points to trade at 37.265 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) declined 1.53% or 1.220 points to end at 78.270 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) shed 1.35% or 1.210 points to 88.350.
The top performers on the MDAX were Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which rose 5.66% to 66.050, K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was up 4.63% to settle at 23.280 and Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which gained 3.59% to close at 33.065.
The worst performers were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was down 1.41% to 49.000 in late trade, Uniper SE (DE:UN01) which lost 1.37% to settle at 16.200 and Krones AG O.N. (DE:KRNG) which was down 1.29% to 110.750 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which rose 6.07% to 57.450, Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was up 3.81% to settle at 25.445 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 3.44% to close at 45.505.
The worst performers were United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which was down 1.21% to 48.100 in late trade, Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which lost 0.83% to settle at 108.000 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which was down 0.80% to 14.190 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 449 to 297 and 21 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.90% to 12.63.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.31% or 3.76 to $1231.46 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.80% or 1.34 to hit $49.18 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 2.52% or 1.28 to trade at $52.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.41% to 1.0977, while EUR/GBP rose 0.28% to 0.8502.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 98.78.
