United Arab Emirates stocks mixed at close of trade; DFM General up 1.89%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were mixed after the close on Monday, as gains in the Real Estate & Construction, Banking and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher while losses in the Telecoms, Finance & Investment and Services sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General rose 1.89% to hit a new 1-month high, while the ADX General index lost 0.01%.

The best performers of the session on the DFM General were SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA), which rose 4.29% or 0.015 points to trade at 0.365 at the close. Meanwhile, Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC) added 3.75% or 0.09 points to end at 2.49 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) was up 3.69% or 0.080 points to 2.250 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which fell 3.53% or 3.00 points to trade at 82.00 at the close. Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA) declined 2.34% or 0.03 points to end at 1.25 and Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN) was down 1.41% or 0.007 points to 0.490.

The top performers on the ADX General were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which rose 14.90% to 5.86, Abd Nat Takafu (AD:TKFL) which was up 14.13% to settle at 5.25 and Methaq (AD:METH) which gained 5.66% to close at 0.560.

The worst performers were Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) which was down 9.96% to 2.35 in late trade, Finance House (AD:FH) which lost 2.50% to settle at 1.95 and Ad Islamic Bk (AD:ADIB) which was down 1.41% to 3.49 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 17 to 6 and 7 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 13 rose and 9 declined, while 3 ended unchanged.

Shares in Ad Natl Ins Co (AD:ADNI) fell to all time lows; losing 9.96% or 0.26 to 2.35.

Crude oil for March delivery was down 2.38% or 0.73 to $30.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.98% or 0.68 to hit $33.38 a barrel, while the April Gold contract rose 1.49% or 17.30 to trade at $1175.00 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was unchanged 0.00% to 3.6730, while EUR/AED fell 0.20% to 4.0904.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 97.21.
