Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financials, Healthcare and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.40%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ING Groep NV (AS:INGA), which rose 8.20% or 0.771 points to trade at 10.175 at the close. ABN AMRO Group NV (AS:ABNd) added 2.85% or 0.45 points to end at 16.25 and DSM Kon (AS:DSMN) was up 1.42% or 0.85 points to 60.61 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altice NV (AS:ATCA), which lost 1.38% or 0.18 points to trade at 12.90 in late trade. Unilever NV (AS:UNc) declined 1.35% or 0.56 points to end at 40.58 and Relx NV (AS:RELN) shed 1.19% or 0.190 points to 15.840.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 90 to 76 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 1.30% to 20.04.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 3.97% or 1.57 to $41.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 3.68% or 1.54 to hit $43.34 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.62% or 8.45 to trade at $1364.15 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.68% to 1.1148, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8373.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.51% at 95.50.
