Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Retail, Chemicals and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 0.62% to hit a new 6-month high, while the MDAX index climbed 0.06%, and the TecDAX index gained 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which rose 1.97% or 0.430 points to trade at 22.265 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) added 1.70% or 1.240 points to end at 74.290 and Daimler AG NA O.N. (DE:DAIGn) was up 1.39% or 0.880 points to 64.170 in late trade.
Biggest losers included E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which lost 2.25% or 0.189 points to trade at 8.219 in late trade. Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) declined 1.85% or 0.200 points to end at 10.590 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) shed 1.26% or 0.920 points to 72.330.
The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 3.46% to 28.550, Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was up 3.31% to settle at 36.52 and Kion Group AG (DE:KGX) which gained 2.66% to close at 54.05.
The worst performers were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was down 4.40% to 5.26 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 4.05% to settle at 81.080 and Kuka AG (DE:KU2G) which was down 2.05% to 90.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which rose 8.80% to 22.305, Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was up 1.90% to settle at 44.485 and Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which gained 1.77% to close at 55.060.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 3.45% to 3.475 in late trade, Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which lost 1.89% to settle at 66.500 and Suess Microtec NA O.N. (DE:SMHNn) which was down 1.38% to 6.218 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 506 to 376 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.08% to 17.55.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.43% or 5.85 to $1348.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 1.47% or 0.66 to hit $45.49 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.54% or 0.73 to trade at $47.99 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.17% to 1.1236, while EUR/GBP rose 0.60% to 0.8426.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 95.00.
