Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Oil Equipment Services & Distribution, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.03% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were DCC (LON:DCC), which rose 1.90% or 130.0 points to trade at 6990.0 at the close. BAE Systems PLC (LON:BAES) added 1.88% or 12.000 points to end at 650.500 and BT Group PLC (LON:BT) was up 1.87% or 6.150 points to 334.600 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which lost 9.12% or 51.50 points to trade at 513.50 in late trade. Travis Perkins PLC (LON:TPK) declined 6.13% or 96.00 points to end at 1469.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) shed 3.55% or 11.00 points to 299.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1046 to 901 and 451 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 1.40% or 17.50 to $1232.50 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in April fell 1.88% or 1.01 to hit $52.82 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.83% or 1.03 to trade at $55.33 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.23% to 1.2266, while EUR/GBP fell 0.09% to 0.8569.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.39% at 102.14.
