Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Telecoms & IT and Financial Services & Real Estate sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS), which rose 3.33% or 0.152 points to trade at 4.723 at the close. Repsol (MC:REP) added 3.19% or 0.360 points to end at 11.650 and Tecnicas Reunidas (MC:TRE) was up 1.39% or 0.375 points to 27.450 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Banco Popular (MC:POP), which lost 2.86% or 0.045 points to trade at 1.529 in late trade. Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) declined 1.48% or 0.175 points to end at 11.615 and Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) shed 1.14% or 0.077 points to 6.704.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 111 to 75 and 29 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 0.33% or 4.15 to $1247.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.83% or 0.89 to hit $49.51 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 1.49% or 0.74 to trade at $50.38 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.00% to 1.1367, while EUR/GBP rose 0.38% to 0.7859.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.01% at 93.91.
