Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Power, Financial Services and Insurance sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 3.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were TDK Corp. (TOKYO:6762), which rose 10.16% or 690.0 points to trade at 7480.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nitto Denko Co (TOKYO:6988) added 9.26% or 687.0 points to end at 8105.0 and Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TOKYO:9501) was up 8.69% or 67.0 points to 838.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5541), which fell 3.48% or 11.0 points to trade at 305.0 at the close. Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:3863) declined 2.49% or 50.0 points to end at 1955.0 and Komatsu Ltd. (TOKYO:6301) was down 1.92% or 38.5 points to 1962.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1783 to 95.
Shares in Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TOKYO:5541) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.48% or 11.0 to 305.0. Shares in Komatsu Ltd. (TOKYO:6301) fell to 52-week lows; down 1.92% or 38.5 to 1962.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 23.65% to 35.89.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.74% or 0.29 to $39.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.84% or 0.36 to hit $43.58 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.16% or 1.80 to trade at $1136.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.57% to 119.53, while EUR/JPY rose 0.33% to 137.35.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 94.17.
