Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Real Estate and Financials sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa added 3.64%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4), which rose 17.67% or 0.47 points to trade at 3.13 at the close. Meanwhile, Vale SA (SA:VALE3) added 11.26% or 1.79 points to end at 17.69 and Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3) was up 11.28% or 1.03 points to 10.16 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Smiles ON (SA:SMLE3), which fell 0.86% or 0.41 points to trade at 47.35 at the close. Embraer SA (SA:EMBR3) declined 0.43% or 0.10 points to end at 22.97 and Cia Hering (SA:HGTX3) was down 0.29% or 0.04 points to 13.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 225 to 79 and 7 ended unchanged.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 5.85% to 43.32.
Gold for December delivery was up 0.01% or 0.10 to $1124.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 10.80% or 4.17 to hit $42.77 a barrel, while the December US coffee C contract rose 1.76% or 2.15 to trade at $123.97 .
USD/BRL was down 1.10% to 3.5556, while EUR/BRL fell 1.72% to 3.9999.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.48% at 95.76.
