Investing.com – Japan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Glass and Automobiles & Parts sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.59% to hit a new 6-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099), which rose 5.36% or 63.0 points to trade at 1238.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) added 4.87% or 61.0 points to end at 1313.0 and Mitsumi Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6767) was up 4.79% or 30.0 points to 656.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Konami Corp. (T:9766), which lost 6.93% or 290.0 points to trade at 3895.0 in late trade. Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) declined 3.28% or 28.0 points to end at 825.0 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) shed 3.06% or 49.3 points to 1563.2.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 2093 to 888 and 348 ended unchanged on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.61% to 19.51.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.92% or 0.42 to $45.00 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.69% or 0.32 to hit $46.17 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.73% or 8.85 to trade at $1208.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.49% to 110.66, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 117.28.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.31% at 101.31.
