Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare, Basic Resources and Technology sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.75%, while the MDAX index fell 1.00%, and the TecDAX index fell 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 4.29% or 0.658 points to trade at 16.005 at the close. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) added 0.77% or 0.064 points to end at 8.420 and Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) was up 0.52% or 0.430 points to 82.930 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fresenius Medical Care KGAA ST (DE:FMEG), which lost 3.48% or 2.770 points to trade at 76.720 in late trade. Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) declined 3.40% or 2.570 points to end at 72.950 and Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG) shed 2.99% or 0.450 points to 14.600.
The top performers on the MDAX were Fraport AG (DE:FRAG) which rose 1.41% to 63.950, Hella KGaA Hueck & Co (DE:HLE) which was up 1.20% to settle at 40.09 and Tag Immobilien AG (DE:TEGG) which gained 0.83% to close at 12.810.
The worst performers were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which was down 4.00% to 34.580 in late trade, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which lost 3.29% to settle at 67.820 and STADA Arzneimittel VNA O.N. (DE:STAGn) which was down 3.17% to 54.040 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which rose 1.56% to 4.351, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was up 1.06% to settle at 54.570 and GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which gained 0.06% to close at 17.650.
The worst performers were Medigene NA O.N. (DE:MDG1k) which was down 7.13% to 11.205 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 3.48% to settle at 78.130 and Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which was down 2.39% to 88.960 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 551 to 201 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 9.75% to 13.63.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.96% or 11.85 to $1245.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 1.35% or 0.66 to hit $48.25 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract fell 1.05% or 0.54 to trade at $51.08 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.71% to 1.0815, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.8660.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.68% at 99.48.
