Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Oil, Gas & Electricity, Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.68% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Bestec Power (TW:3308), which rose 9.96% or 0.72 points to trade at 7.95 at the close. Pan Intl Ind (TW:2328) added 9.93% or 2.75 points to end at 30.45 and Epileds Tech (TW:4956) was up 9.88% or 2.50 points to 27.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Roo Hsing (TW:4414), which lost 9.84% or 2.10 points to trade at 19.25 in late trade. Elitegroup Com (TW:2331) declined 6.55% or 0.95 points to end at 13.55 and Gamma Optical (TW:3557) shed 4.46% or 0.250 points to 5.360.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 390 to 366 and 106 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.18% or 0.09 to $50.61 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.45 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.30% or 3.80 to trade at $1267.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.30% to 31.585, while TWD/CNY rose 0.05% to 0.2138.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.08% at 98.72.
