Investing.com – United Arab Emirates stocks were lower after the close on Sunday, as losses in the Finance & Investment, Real Estate & Construction and Consumer Staples sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 4.64% to hit a new 52-week low, while the ADX General index fell 4.24%.
The best performers of the session on the DFM General were Mashreqbank PSC (DU:MASB), which rose 12.20% or 10.00 points to trade at 92.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Takaful House (DU:DTKF) added 0.74% or 0.003 points to end at 0.411 and National General Insurance Co PSC (DU:NGIN) was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 points to 3.80 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC), which fell 9.95% or 0.059 points to trade at 0.534 at the close. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) declined 9.87% or 0.037 points to end at 0.338 and Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) was down 9.86% or 0.035 points to 0.320.
The top performers on the ADX General were Invest Bank AD (AD:INVB) which rose 14.56% to 1.81, Arkan Bld Mt C (AD:ARKN) which was up 13.70% to settle at 0.83 and Ad Shipbldg Co (AD:ADSB) which gained 8.70% to close at 3.00.
The worst performers were Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which was down 8.51% to 0.430 in late trade, First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) which lost 8.22% to settle at 10.05 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 8.16% to 0.450 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Dubai Stock Exchange by 28 to 2; on the Abu Dhabi Stock Exchange, 23 fell and 4 advanced.
Shares in Gulf General Investments Company (DU:GGIC) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.95% or 0.059 to 0.534. Shares in SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) fell to all time lows; falling 9.87% or 0.037 to 0.338. Shares in Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI) fell to all time lows; down 9.86% or 0.035 to 0.320. Shares in First Gulf Bk (AD:FGB) fell to 52-week lows; down 8.22% or 0.90 to 10.05. Shares in Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) fell to 52-week lows; losing 8.16% or 0.040 to 0.450.
Crude oil for February delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $30.39 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 5.33% or 1.65 to hit $29.23 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 1.40% or 15.00 to trade at $1088.60 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.02% to 3.6725, while EUR/AED rose 0.37% to 4.0063.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 98.99.
