Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Banking, Utilities and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite added 1.96%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Piraeus Bank SA (AT:BOPr), which rose 7.33% or 0.011 points to trade at 0.161 at the close. AS Company SA (AT:ASCr) added 7.25% or 0.058 points to end at 0.859 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) was up 5.63% or 0.012 points to 0.225 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Profile Syst (AT:PRFr), which lost 4.94% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.500 in late trade. Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) declined 4.25% or 0.034 points to end at 0.765 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) shed 3.00% or 0.003 points to 0.097.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 71 to 24 and 24 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.57% or 7.15 to $1255.65 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.79% or 0.38 to hit $47.59 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.43% or 0.22 to trade at $50.70 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.83% to 1.0888, while EUR/GBP fell 0.07% to 0.8653.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.76% at 98.83.
