Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Travel & Leisure and Software & Computer Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.27%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Old Mutual PLC (LON:OML), which rose 2.28% or 4.50 points to trade at 201.50 at the close. Standard Chartered PLC (LON:STAN) added 1.07% or 8.00 points to end at 753.00 and Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) was up 0.93% or 3.40 points to 371.10 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Antofagasta PLC (LON:ANTO), which lost 3.54% or 28.50 points to trade at 776.50 in late trade. EasyJet PLC (LON:EZJ) declined 3.24% or 45.00 points to end at 1344.00 and Sage Group PLC (LON:SGE) shed 2.67% or 19.50 points to 709.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1180 to 614 and 436 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.12% or 1.55 to $1281.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.05% or 0.50 to hit $47.16 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.30% or 0.65 to trade at $49.30 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.22% to 1.2915, while EUR/GBP fell 0.57% to 0.8710.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 96.80.
