Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Media sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.27%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.94%, and the TecDAX index climbed 1.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which rose 3.44% or 1.275 points to trade at 38.320 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 3.39% or 0.410 points to end at 12.500 and Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) was up 2.82% or 0.615 points to 22.440 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 0.26% or 0.035 points to trade at 13.360 in late trade. Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) declined 0.05% or 0.003 points to end at 5.686 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) gained 0.07% or 0.050 points to 68.620.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 4.38% to 32.270, Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which was up 2.55% to settle at 95.010 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which gained 2.48% to close at 52.570.
The worst performers were Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which was down 1.72% to 56.907 in late trade, Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which lost 0.49% to settle at 37.715 and DMG Mori AG (DE:GILG) which was down 0.35% to 43.635 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Nemetschek AG O.N. (DE:NEKG) which rose 6.95% to 58.510, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which was up 2.65% to settle at 76.600 and Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which gained 2.33% to close at 38.925.
The worst performers were Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was down 0.79% to 41.455 in late trade, Bechtle AG (DE:BC8G) which lost 0.69% to settle at 100.850 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 0.66% to 44.325 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 636 to 245 and 26 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.46% to 18.77.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.71% or 8.85 to $1260.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.83% or 1.41 to hit $51.22 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.29% or 1.19 to trade at $53.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.41% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP fell 0.03% to 0.9004.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.28% at 96.79.
