Investing.com – Germany equities were mixed at the close on Friday, as gains in the Food & Beverages, Technology and Software sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Utilities, Insurance and Basic Resources sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX lost 0.20%, while the MDAX index declined 0.32%, and the TecDAX index climbed 0.60%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which rose 2.67% or 0.870 points to trade at 33.495 at the close. Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) added 1.62% or 0.255 points to end at 16.005 and SAP SE (DE:SAPG) was up 1.48% or 1.140 points to 78.290 in late trade.

Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 2.21% or 0.265 points to trade at 11.740 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 1.22% or 0.075 points to end at 6.055 and BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) shed 0.99% or 0.800 points to 80.400.

The top performers on the MDAX were Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which rose 2.48% to 34.915, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which was up 2.25% to settle at 21.850 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which gained 1.87% to close at 83.150.

The worst performers were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 2.75% to 28.515 in late trade, Hannover Rueck SE (DE:HNRGn) which lost 2.73% to settle at 99.800 and Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which was down 1.17% to 29.660 at the close.

The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 3.85% to 36.455, CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was up 3.81% to settle at 37.705 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 3.33% to close at 46.345.

The worst performers were Aixtron SE (F:AIXC) which was down 1.94% to 4.600 in late trade, Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which lost 1.53% to settle at 17.985 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 1.42% to 43.850 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 454 to 427 and 34 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.

The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 1.39% to 19.04.

In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.71% or 8.65 to $1208.25 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.59% or 0.27 to hit $45.15 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 0.54% or 0.25 to trade at $46.24 a barrel.

EUR/USD was down 0.27% to 1.0595, while EUR/GBP rose 0.39% to 0.8590.

The US Dollar Index was up 0.32% at 101.32.
