Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Industrial Metals & Mining, Mining and Electronic & Electrical Equipment sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.26%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL), which rose 4.21% or 57.00 points to trade at 1409.50 at the close. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) added 3.00% or 107.000 points to end at 3679.500 and Glencore PLC (LON:GLEN) was up 2.56% or 8.20 points to 328.95 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which lost 2.38% or 12.50 points to trade at 513.50 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 1.99% or 31.00 points to end at 1524.00 and Direct Line Insurance Group PLC (LON:DLGD) shed 1.98% or 7.30 points to 360.70.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1218 to 710 and 413 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.89% or 11.05 to $1224.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March fell 1.73% or 0.93 to hit $52.93 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract fell 1.96% or 1.11 to trade at $55.59 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.11% to 1.2504, while EUR/GBP fell 0.46% to 0.8479.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.26% at 100.98.
