Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.53%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Bankia SA (MC:BKIA), which rose 4.94% or 0.209 points to trade at 4.441 at the close. Caixabank SA (MC:CABK) added 4.07% or 0.170 points to end at 4.350 and Banco Santander (MC:SAN) was up 3.63% or 0.210 points to 6.002 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Aena Aeropuertos SA (MC:AENA), which lost 1.02% or 1.75 points to trade at 169.10 in late trade. International Consolidated Airlines Group SA (MC:ICAG) declined 0.66% or 0.046 points to end at 6.903 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) shed 0.64% or 0.070 points to 10.825.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 135 to 79 and 30 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.53% or 18.97 to $1223.33 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.61% or 0.74 to hit $46.78 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 0.67 to trade at $49.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.59% to 1.1359, while EUR/GBP rose 0.02% to 0.8772.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.60% at 95.96.
