Dec 14 (The Sports Xchange) - Highlights of Monday's NHL
games.
Capitals 4 Penguins 1
T.J. Oshie scored twice in the third period and the hot
Washington Capitals spoiled Mike Sullivan's debut as
Pittsburgh's coach.
Nicklas Backstrom, who assisted on both Oshie goals during a
three-point night, and defenseman John Carlson scored in the
opening 7:04. Goaltender Braden Holtby -- who has not allowed
more than two goals in his last seven starts -- made the lead
hold up with 44 saves.
The Capitals (21-6-2) won for the ninth time in their last
11 games and are 10-3-1 on the road.
Lightning 2, Blue Jackets 1
Brian Boyle scored a short-handed goal in the third period,
and Tampa Bay held on for a victory over Columbus.
Boyle took a pass from Alex Killorn and sent a bullet of a
slap shot past the glove of Blue Jackets rookie goaltender
Joonas Korpisalo at 6:13 for his eighth goal of the season.
Oilers 3, Bruins 2 (OT)
Andrej Sekera converted his own rebound 41 seconds into
overtime as Edmonton won their sixth game in a row and recorded
the franchise's first win in Boston in almost two decades.
The Oilers, coming off their first 5-0 homestand since
1987, squandered a 2-0 lead but had 47 saves from backup
goaltender Cam Talbot.
Sekera took a pass from Jordan Eberle and had his shot
blocked by defenseman Torey Krug. The puck came right back to
Sekera, who got around Landon Ferraro and beat goaltender Jonas
Gustavsson with his second goal of the season.

Ryan O'Reilly and Johan Larsson scored a minute apart late
in the third period to give Buffalo a come-from-behind win
against Detroit.
Chad Johnson made 31 saves for Buffalo.
Brad Richards scored for Detroit, who had their 13-game
point streak (8-0-5) snapped. Red Wings goalie Petr Mrazek made
28 saves.

Ottawa past Los Angeles.
