Investing.com – Netherlands equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Technology, Basic Materials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX fell 1.78%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were KPN Kon (AS:KPN), which rose 1.05% or 0.036 points to trade at 3.450 at the close. Ahold Kon (AS:AHLN) added 0.18% or 0.04 points to end at 19.05 and TNT Express (AS:TNTE) was down 0.01% or 0.001 points to 7.984 in late trade.
Biggest losers included ArcelorMittal SA (AS:ISPA), which lost 4.42% or 0.21 points to trade at 4.64 in late trade. Aegon (AS:AEGN) declined 4.03% or 0.205 points to end at 4.880 and SBM Offshore (AS:SBMO) shed 3.45% or 0.40 points to 11.06.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 130 to 35 and 8 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was up 6.51% to 23.60.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for June delivery was down 2.81% or 1.26 to $43.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 1.99% or 0.91 to hit $44.92 a barrel, while the June Gold contract fell 0.52% or 6.75 to trade at $1289.05 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.12% to 1.1520, while EUR/GBP rose 0.71% to 0.7917.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 92.80.
