Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Telecoms & IT and Building & Construction sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 fell 0.16%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Popular (MC:POP), which rose 2.46% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.247 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) added 2.35% or 0.103 points to end at 4.496 and Acerinox (MC:ACX) was up 2.03% or 0.210 points to 10.575 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5), which lost 4.44% or 0.454 points to trade at 9.771 in late trade. Gamesa (MC:GAM) declined 2.87% or 0.515 points to end at 17.405 and Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) shed 1.39% or 0.063 points to 4.474.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 96 to 90 and 27 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was up 1.11% or 14.85 to $1353.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.33% or 0.16 to hit $48.83 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 0.38% or 0.19 to trade at $50.16 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.06% to 1.1145, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8389.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.09% at 95.63.
