Investing.com – Australia equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare, Telecoms Services and Energy sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sydney, the S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.08% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/ASX 200 were Vocus Group Ltd (AX:VOC), which rose 4.66% or 0.115 points to trade at 2.585 at the close. CSL Ltd (AX:CSL) added 3.05% or 5.69 points to end at 192.28 and Nanosonics Ltd (AX:NAN) was up 2.85% or 0.090 points to 3.250 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Mineral Resources Ltd (AX:MIN), which lost 4.67% or 0.790 points to trade at 16.110 in late trade. OZ Minerals Ltd (AX:OZL) declined 4.13% or 0.420 points to end at 9.750 and Bluescope Steel Ltd (AX:BSL) shed 3.52% or 0.650 points to 17.840.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 698 to 555 and 389 ended unchanged on the Sydney Stock Exchange.
The S&P/ASX 200 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/ASX 200 options, was up 1.93% to 12.147.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.38% or 4.90 to $1285.00 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 0.79% or 0.52 to hit $65.17 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 0.78% or 0.59 to trade at $74.75 a barrel.
AUD/USD was down 0.58% to 0.7381, while AUD/JPY fell 1.41% to 80.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.11% at 94.31.
