Investing.com – Portugal equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Basic Materials, Industrials and Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 declined 2.24%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA), which rose 6.03% or 0.0070 points to trade at 0.1230 at the close. Banco BPI (LS:BBPI) added 0.55% or 0.0060 points to end at 1.1050 and J. Martins SGPS (LS:JMT) was up 0.28% or 0.0400 points to 14.2700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Altri SGPS (LS:ALSS), which lost 4.36% or 0.1330 points to trade at 2.9160 in late trade. Sonae (LS:YSO) declined 4.31% or 0.0300 points to end at 0.6660 and The Navigator Company SA (LS:NVGR) shed 4.17% or 0.1080 points to 2.4800.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 33 to 9 and 6 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was down 4.81% or 2.41 to $47.69 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August fell 5.04% or 2.47 to hit $46.52 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 1.24% or 16.55 to trade at $1355.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.63% to 1.1084, while EUR/GBP rose 1.31% to 0.8501.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.55% at 96.14.
