Canada shares lower at close of trade; S&P/TSX Composite down 0.06%

Investing.com – Canada equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Healthcare, IT and Clean Technology sectors propelled shares lower.

At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite fell 0.06%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Bombardier Inc (TSX:BBDb), which rose 3.62% or 0.075 points to trade at 2.145 at the close. Converge Technology Solutions Corp (TSX:CTS) added 3.09% or 0.365 points to end at 12.165 and Boardwalk REIT (TSX:BEI_u) was up 2.69% or 1.43 points to 54.59 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Cronos Group Inc (TSX:CRON), which lost 5.71% or 0.42 points to trade at 6.94 in late trade. Shopify Inc (TSX:SHOP) declined 5.50% or 101.75 points to end at 1748.83 and Canopy Growth Corp (TSX:WEED) shed 5.41% or 0.940 points to 16.430.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 526 to 495 and 109 ended unchanged on the Toronto Stock Exchange.

 

The S&P/TSX 60 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was unchanged 0% to 11.27.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.68% or 12.15 to $1794.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.62% or 1.34 to hit $83.84 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.19% or 1.01 to trade at $85.62 a barrel.

CAD/USD was down 0.01% to 0.8084, while CAD/EUR fell 0.14% to 0.6945.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 93.630.
