Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Technology, Transportation & Logistics and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 0.13%, while the MDAX index added 0.32%, and the TecDAX index added 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn), which rose 1.55% or 0.205 points to trade at 13.410 at the close. Siemens AG NA (DE:SIEGn) added 1.01% or 0.990 points to end at 98.690 and Beiersdorf AG O.N. (DE:BEIG) was up 1.00% or 0.800 points to 80.500 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which lost 1.06% or 0.820 points to trade at 76.500 in late trade. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) declined 0.81% or 0.160 points to end at 19.655 and Henkel AG & Co Kgaa Vzo (DE:HNKG) shed 0.48% or 0.500 points to 103.750.
The top performers on the MDAX were Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which rose 3.88% to 10.37, Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which was up 1.74% to settle at 5.38 and RTL Group SA (DE:RRTL) which gained 1.43% to close at 82.950.
The worst performers were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which was down 2.06% to 44.965 in late trade, Salzgitter AG O.N. (DE:SZGG) which lost 1.42% to settle at 27.065 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which was down 1.14% to 22.455 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which rose 1.73% to 21.485, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which was up 1.63% to settle at 29.220 and Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which gained 1.43% to close at 50.700.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 2.42% to 4.112 in late trade, Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which lost 1.21% to settle at 40.010 and CompuGroup Medical AG O.N. (DE:COPMa) which was down 0.91% to 39.050 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 501 to 378 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 2.41% to 19.00 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.61% or 7.45 to $1212.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 0.46% or 0.23 to hit $49.25 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.73% or 0.36 to trade at $49.23 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.54% to 1.1134, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.7603.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 95.52.
