Investing.com – Nigeria equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Food, Beverages & Tobacco sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Lagos, the NSE 30 lost 2.44%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the NSE 30 were Uacn Prop (LAGOS:UACN), which rose 1.99% or 0.35 points to trade at 17.90 at the close. Wemabank (LAGOS:WEMABAN) unchanged 0.00% or 0.000 points to end at 0.670 and Total Nig (LAGOS:TOTAL) was down 0.74% or 2.01 points to 270.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Pz Cussons LG (LAGOS:PZ), which lost 5.00% or 1.10 points to trade at 20.90 in late trade. Skye Bank (LAGOS:SKYEBAN) declined 5.00% or 0.040 points to end at 0.760 and Unilever Nig (LAGOS:UNILEVE) shed 4.98% or 2.14 points to 40.85.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 54 to 26 and 23 ended unchanged on the Lagos.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was down 2.96% or 1.29 to $42.22 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 3.24% or 1.49 to hit $44.53 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.29% or 3.64 to trade at $1247.14 a troy ounce.
EUR/NGN was down 0.09% to 350.710, while USD/NGN fell 3.07% to 314.550.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 97.33.
