Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Telecoms, Software and Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 0.47%, while the MDAX index gained 0.16%, and the TecDAX index added 2.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn), which rose 4.88% or 0.815 points to trade at 17.530 at the close. Merck KGaA (DE:MRCG) added 2.28% or 2.55 points to end at 114.40 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 1.48% or 1.160 points to 79.490 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG), which lost 4.06% or 0.905 points to trade at 21.360 in late trade. Bayerische Motoren Werke AG (DE:BMWG) declined 3.22% or 2.900 points to end at 87.240 and Adidas AG (DE:ADSGN) shed 1.56% or 2.80 points to 176.20.
The top performers on the MDAX were Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which rose 2.10% to 68.113, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was up 2.03% to settle at 54.850 and LEG Immobilien AG (DE:LEGn) which gained 1.64% to close at 84.360.
The worst performers were Talanx AG NA O.N. (DE:TLXGn) which was down 3.21% to 33.720 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 3.02% to settle at 31.920 and Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 2.11% to 65.060 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were United Internet AG NA (DE:UTDI) which rose 13.92% to 48.690, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 11.59% to settle at 54.160 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 5.97% to close at 4.330.
The worst performers were Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was down 4.37% to 24.510 in late trade, Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which lost 2.36% to settle at 37.02 and Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 2.31% to 51.690 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 392 to 347 and 35 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.87% to 12.52 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.37% or 4.50 to $1228.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.17% or 0.08 to hit $47.75 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to trade at $50.77 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.55% to 1.0922, while EUR/GBP rose 0.66% to 0.8485.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.40% at 99.13.
