Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Monday, as gains in the Basic Resources, Food & Beverages and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX added 1.59% to hit a new 1-month high, while the MDAX index added 1.54%, and the TecDAX index added 1.13%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn), which rose 3.39% or 0.560 points to trade at 17.100 at the close. RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG) added 3.36% or 0.565 points to end at 17.370 and Fresenius SE & Co KGAA O.N. (DE:FREG) was up 2.73% or 1.750 points to 65.930 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn), which lost 0.10% or 0.100 points to trade at 98.060 in late trade. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) added 0.08% or 0.15 points to end at 179.95 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) gained 0.28% or 0.250 points to 90.240.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 8.01% to 0.58, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was up 5.12% to settle at 14.46 and Aurubis AG (DE:NAFG) which gained 4.95% to close at 74.700.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 3.39% to 43.89 in late trade, Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which lost 1.48% to settle at 66.720 and CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which was down 0.69% to 38.700 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 9.09% to 6.202, Aixtron SE (DE:AIXGn) which was up 4.26% to settle at 13.085 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 4.23% to close at 44.01.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 2.38% to 8.443 in late trade, Sartorius AG VZO O.N. (DE:SATG_p) which lost 1.35% to settle at 81.230 and Jenoptik AG (DE:JENG) which was down 1.03% to 27.960 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 574 to 220 and 28 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 7.45% to 11.51 a new 1-month low.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.64% or 8.10 to $1265.60 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $57.33 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract rose 0.17% or 0.11 to trade at $63.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.46% to 1.1803, while EUR/GBP fell 0.15% to 0.8810.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.39% at 93.10.
