Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Telecoms, Utilities and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX rose 2.28%, while the MDAX index added 2.00%, and the TecDAX index added 1.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 4.03% or 0.585 points to trade at 15.095 at the close. Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) added 3.65% or 0.540 points to end at 15.325 and E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) was up 3.52% or 0.221 points to 6.494 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Prosiebensat 1 Media AG (DE:PSMGn), which added 0.53% or 0.205 points to trade at 38.920 in late trade. Bayer AG NA (DE:BAYGN) added 0.67% or 0.610 points to end at 92.220 and Deutsche Boerse AG (DE:DB1Gn) gained 0.93% or 0.680 points to 73.790.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 4.56% to 5.25, Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was up 3.58% to settle at 28.800 and Duerr AG (DE:DUEG) which gained 3.24% to close at 77.730.
The worst performers were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 2.87% to 38.465 in late trade, Suedzucker AG (DE:SZUG) which lost 0.59% to settle at 23.700 and Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 0.01% to 73.010 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which rose 4.51% to 8.646, Morphosys AG O.N. (DE:MORG) which was up 3.70% to settle at 37.230 and Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which gained 3.49% to close at 3.829.
The worst performers were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which was down 0.81% to 52.400 in late trade, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which lost 0.25% to settle at 5.535 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which was up 0.33% to 42.19 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 695 to 179 and 18 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 13.72% to 15.82 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 1.17% or 15.55 to $1346.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 2.38% or 1.08 to hit $46.42 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 1.84% or 0.86 to trade at $47.69 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.35% to 1.1229, while EUR/GBP fell 0.06% to 0.8580.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.31% at 95.16.
