Investing.com – Germany equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials, Technology and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX gained 1.08%, while the MDAX index climbed 0.50%, and the TecDAX index added 1.07%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Siemens AG (DE:SIEGn), which rose 5.63% or 6.550 points to trade at 122.800 at the close. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) added 4.30% or 0.790 points to end at 19.180 and Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG) was up 2.26% or 0.181 points to 8.194 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 1.39% or 0.170 points to trade at 12.085 in late trade. Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG_p) declined 1.06% or 1.200 points to end at 111.500 and Deutsche Telekom AG Na (DE:DTEGn) shed 0.84% or 0.135 points to 16.025.
The top performers on the MDAX were Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which rose 3.54% to 4.59, Schaeffler AG Pref (DE:SHA_p) which was up 2.61% to settle at 15.36 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 1.96% to close at 36.450.
The worst performers were Axel Springer SE (DE:SPRGn) which was down 2.42% to 47.540 in late trade, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which lost 2.20% to settle at 109.150 and Rheinmetall AG (DE:RHMG) which was down 1.50% to 69.780 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 4.19% to 44.750, Carl Zeiss Meditec AG (DE:AFXG) which was up 4.01% to settle at 35.940 and Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which gained 4.00% to close at 51.500.
The worst performers were Telefonica Deutschland Holding AG (DE:O2Dn) which was down 1.63% to 3.797 in late trade, STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which lost 1.13% to settle at 48.150 and Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which was unchanged 0.00% to 0.036 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 505 to 253 and 16 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was down 4.14% to 16.45.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.48% or 5.85 to $1205.55 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.49% or 0.26 to hit $53.07 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 0.70% or 0.39 to trade at $55.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.44% to 1.0750, while EUR/GBP fell 0.86% to 0.8508.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.36% at 99.89.
