Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Consumer & Cyclical, Utilities and Chemicals sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX fell 0.73%, while the MDAX index declined 0.40%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.77%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which rose 0.09% or 0.005 points to trade at 5.695 at the close. Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) added 0.06% or 0.100 points to end at 175.300 and Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG) was up 0.05% or 0.040 points to 84.920 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Henkel & Co KGaA AG Pref (DE:HNKG), which lost 2.23% or 2.700 points to trade at 118.300 in late trade. E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn) declined 2.23% or 0.152 points to end at 6.674 and Deutsche Boerse AG Z.UMT. (DE:DB11) shed 1.96% or 1.39 points to 69.61.
The top performers on the MDAX were Norma Group AG NA O.N. (DE:NOEJ) which rose 2.43% to 44.210, Wacker Chemie O.N. (DE:WCHG) which was up 2.40% to settle at 81.000 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which gained 0.67% to close at 8.90.
The worst performers were Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 3.60% to 28.415 in late trade, Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which lost 1.87% to settle at 29.985 and Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which was down 1.81% to 38.470 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were S&T AG (F:SANT1) which rose 1.48% to 9.387, Drillisch AG (DE:DRIG) which was up 1.14% to settle at 41.200 and SMA Solar Technology AG (DE:S92G) which gained 0.76% to close at 27.785.
The worst performers were Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was down 3.66% to 22.630 in late trade, Software AG O.N. (DE:SOWG) which lost 1.75% to settle at 33.210 and Freenet AG NA (DE:FNTGn) which was down 1.68% to 25.195 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 578 to 296 and 19 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 6.72% to 20.09.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.05% or 0.65 to $1256.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.31% or 0.66 to hit $49.69 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 1.17% or 0.61 to trade at $51.34 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.24% to 1.0998, while EUR/GBP rose 0.24% to 0.9025.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.19% at 97.89.
