Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Retail, Media and Transportation & Logistics sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.74%, while the MDAX index declined 1.32%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were E.ON SE NA (DE:EONGn), which rose 3.77% or 0.229 points to trade at 6.309 at the close. Thyssenkrupp AG O.N. (DE:TKAG) added 1.84% or 0.395 points to end at 21.825 and Adidas AG NA O.N. (DE:ADSGN) was up 0.88% or 1.350 points to 155.150 in late trade.
Biggest losers included RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which lost 7.37% or 1.065 points to trade at 13.395 in late trade. Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) declined 2.92% or 4.450 points to end at 147.800 and Continental AG O.N. (DE:CONG) shed 2.54% or 4.700 points to 180.550.
The top performers on the MDAX were Salzgitter AG (DE:SZGG) which rose 4.74% to 30.915, Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was up 1.20% to settle at 8.72 and Aareal Bank AG (DE:ARLG) which gained 0.47% to close at 30.080.
The worst performers were Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was down 4.43% to 51.300 in late trade, Osram Licht AG (F:OSRn) which lost 4.37% to settle at 57.633 and Evonik Industries AG (DE:EVKn) which was down 4.22% to 29.610 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which rose 2.81% to 38.040, Aixtron SE NA O.N. (DE:AIXGn) which was up 1.95% to settle at 5.760 and STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which gained 0.89% to close at 53.270.
The worst performers were Nordex SE O.N. (DE:NDXG) which was down 3.40% to 25.970 in late trade, GFT Technologies AG (DE:GFTG) which lost 2.60% to settle at 17.805 and Wirecard AG (DE:WDIG) which was down 1.99% to 44.620 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 569 to 308 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 4.79% to 19.24.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.16% or 2.05 to $1250.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.88% or 0.95 to hit $49.49 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 2.02% or 1.06 to trade at $51.45 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.07% to 1.1157, while EUR/GBP rose 1.63% to 0.8982.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 96.83.
