Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Retail, Construction and Basic Resources sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.13%, while the MDAX index declined 0.23%, and the TecDAX index declined 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were Lufthansa AG VNA O.N. (DE:LHAG), which rose 4.28% or 0.485 points to trade at 11.805 at the close. BASF SE NA O.N. (DE:BASFN) added 0.39% or 0.340 points to end at 88.630 and Linde AG O.N. (DE:LING) was up 0.39% or 0.600 points to 153.700 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Heidelbergcement AG O.N. (DE:HEIG), which lost 1.26% or 1.080 points to trade at 84.880 in late trade. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) declined 0.93% or 0.29 points to end at 30.90 and Muench. Rueckvers. VNA O.N. (DE:MUVGn) shed 0.70% or 1.250 points to 177.600.
The top performers on the MDAX were CTS Eventim AG (DE:EVDG) which rose 4.68% to 31.440, Covestro AG (DE:1COV) which was up 1.99% to settle at 65.160 and K+S AG NA O.N. (DE:SDFGn) which gained 1.66% to close at 23.620.
The worst performers were Zalando SE (DE:ZALG) which was down 5.98% to 37.28 in late trade, GEA Group AG (DE:G1AG) which lost 2.45% to settle at 37.360 and Bilfinger SE O.N. (DE:GBFG) which was down 1.98% to 37.930 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were STRATEC Biomedical AG (DE:SBSG) which rose 1.56% to 47.420, Adva Optical Networking SE (DE:ADAG) which was up 1.16% to settle at 7.707 and Slm Solution G (DE:AM3D) which gained 0.99% to close at 34.19.
The worst performers were Alix Resources Corp (F:37N2) which was down 36.84% to 0.036 in late trade, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which lost 2.21% to settle at 46.990 and Qiagen NV (DE:QGEN) which was down 2.19% to 26.085 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 483 to 273 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 0.60% to 15.42.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 1.40% or 16.75 to $1212.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.63% or 0.33 to hit $52.70 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.04% or 0.02 to trade at $55.88 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.90% to 1.0696, while EUR/GBP fell 1.89% to 0.8635.
The US Dollar Index was down 1.07% at 100.44.
