Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Financials and Consumer Services sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.97% to hit a new 1-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ASML Holding (AS:ASML), which rose 2.95% or 2.79 points to trade at 97.31 at the close. Gemalto (AS:GTO) added 2.81% or 1.59 points to end at 58.15 and Aegon (AS:AEGN) was up 2.32% or 0.080 points to 3.535 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke Ahold NV (AS:AHLN), which lost 1.40% or 0.30 points to trade at 21.14 in late trade. KPN Kon (AS:KPN) declined 1.33% or 0.042 points to end at 3.118 and Randstad (AS:RAND) shed 0.72% or 0.28 points to 38.55.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 77 to 39 and 12 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 4.38% to 17.21 a new 6-month low.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.86% or 0.39 to $45.84 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.31% or 0.61 to hit $47.27 a barrel, while the August Gold contract fell 1.05% or 13.95 to trade at $1318.35 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.15% to 1.1004, while EUR/GBP fell 0.67% to 0.8351.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.13% at 97.19.
