Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Travel and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite gained 0.07% to hit a new 52-week high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Elliniki Technodomiki Anemos SA (AT:ANEMr), which rose 5.24% or 0.047 points to trade at 0.944 at the close. Grivalia Properties REIC (AT:GRIr) added 4.68% or 0.36 points to end at 8.05 and Iktinos Hellas (AT:IKTr) was up 3.76% or 0.0300 points to 0.8270 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Centric Hold (AT:DESr), which lost 7.89% or 0.009 points to trade at 0.105 in late trade. Select Textile (AT:EPIr) declined 7.46% or 0.010 points to end at 0.124 and Athens Medical (AT:AMCr) shed 6.93% or 0.044 points to 0.591.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 53 to 44 and 18 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was up 0.26% or 3.05 to $1165.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in February rose 0.67% or 0.35 to hit $52.68 a barrel, while the March Brent oil contract rose 0.67% or 0.37 to trade at $55.84 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.69% to 1.0478, while EUR/GBP rose 0.19% to 0.8519.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.61% at 102.61.
