The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.21% or 52.00 points to trade at 1674.00 at the close. Randgold Resources Ltd (LON:RRS) added 2.67% or 200.00 points to end at 7700.00 and Anglo American PLC (LON:AAL) was up 1.85% or 19.00 points to 1045.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Capita PLC (LON:CPI), which lost 5.79% or 34.00 points to trade at 553.00 in late trade. Burberry Group PLC (LON:BRBY) declined 3.70% or 67.00 points to end at 1743.00 and Dixons Carphone PLC (LON:DC) shed 3.16% or 10.20 points to 313.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1435 to 538 and 335 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.09% or 13.98 to $1296.68 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.86% or 0.41 to hit $47.81 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.55% or 0.27 to trade at $49.74 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.12% to 1.2891, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8740.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.21% at 96.57.
