Investing.com – Italy equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Technology, Chemicals and Industrials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Milan, the Investing.com Italy 40 added 0.21%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com Italy 40 were STMicroelectronics (MI:STM), which rose 3.15% or 0.580 points to trade at 19.010 at the close. Mediaset (MI:MS) added 2.98% or 0.096 points to end at 3.314 and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV (MI:FCHA) was up 2.57% or 0.390 points to 15.550 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Italgas SpA (MI:IG), which lost 2.16% or 0.108 points to trade at 4.892 in late trade. Banco Bpm (MI:BAMI) declined 2.04% or 0.054 points to end at 2.590 and Snam (MI:SRG) shed 1.59% or 0.064 points to 3.966.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 221 to 145 and 9 ended unchanged on the Milan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.82% or 1.10 to $61.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 1.55% or 1.03 to hit $67.60 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.50 to trade at $1318.60 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was down 0.22% to 1.2031, while EUR/GBP rose 0.25% to 0.8895.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.24% at 91.78.
