Investing.com -- Stocks gave back most of their early gains on Tuesday after the November inflation report showed prices cooling more than expected. Here are the midday movers for Dec. 13.
Moderna Inc (NASDAQ:MRNA) shares rose 22% after the pharmaceutical maker most famous for its mRNA COVID-19 vaccine reported positive trends from the trial of its vaccine for skin cancer together with Merck & Company Inc's (NYSE:MRK) Keytruda treatment. Shares of Merck were up 0.7%.
United Airlines Holdings Inc (NASDAQ:UAL) stock fell 6.6% after the carrier ordered 100 new Dreamliner 787 planes from Boeing, with an option to buy 100 more, in what it called the largest widebody order by a U.S. carrier in commercial aviation history. It is also ordering dozens more 737 Max planes. Boeing Co (NYSE:BA) shares were flat.
Pinterest Inc (NYSE:PINS) stock rose 11% after the photo-sharing platform was upgraded by Piper Sandler to overweight from neutral and the price target raised to $30 from $25. The analysts cited positive trends in advertising and rising active users.
Tesla Inc (NASDAQ:TSLA) stock fell 6% and hit another 52-week low, down more than 54% so far this year. Investors have been worried about slowing demand and production.
Halliburton Company (NYSE:HAL) stock jumped 7% as the oil field services company benefits from the rising cost of oil. Prices for Brent crude and WTI jumped more than 4% on Tuesday.
