Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Goods, Consumer Services and Basic Materials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX added 0.12%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were Koninklijke Ahold Delhaize NV (AS:AD), which rose 0.92% or 0.14 points to trade at 15.94 at the close. Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN) added 0.91% or 0.027 points to end at 2.984 and Unilever NV (AS:UNc) was up 0.68% or 0.34 points to 50.39 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gemalto (AS:GTO), which lost 2.76% or 0.96 points to trade at 34.02 in late trade. Altice NV (AS:ATCA) declined 1.35% or 0.23 points to end at 17.19 and Randstad Holding NV (AS:RAND) shed 1.22% or 0.66 points to 53.61.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 70 to 57 and 10 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 2.38% to 11.05.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.20% or 0.10 to $51.02 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.21% or 0.12 to hit $56.49 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.48% or 6.22 to trade at $1287.58 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.29% to 1.1842, while EUR/GBP rose 0.23% to 0.8964.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 92.92.
