Investing.com – Netherlands equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials, Oil & Gas and Technology sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Amsterdam, the AEX rose 0.19%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the AEX were ArcelorMittal SA (AS:MT), which rose 4.09% or 1.070 points to trade at 27.220 at the close. Royal Dutch Shell PLC Class A (AS:RDSa) added 1.64% or 0.415 points to end at 25.710 and Koninklijke Vopak NV (AS:VOPA) was up 1.25% or 0.48 points to 39.03 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Koninklijke KPN NV (AS:KPN), which lost 1.22% or 0.030 points to trade at 2.437 in late trade. Unibail Rodamco SE (AS:UNBP) declined 1.14% or 2.20 points to end at 190.00 and Aegon NV (AS:AEGN) shed 0.99% or 0.056 points to 5.626.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 58 to 56 and 13 ended unchanged on the Amsterdam Stock Exchange.
The AEX Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of AEX options, was down 0.76% to 12.96.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.25% or 1.43 to $64.97 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 2.45% or 1.65 to hit $69.07 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.77% or 10.10 to trade at $1322.00 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.19% to 1.2264, while EUR/GBP fell 0.35% to 0.8715.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.27% at 89.77.
